Sarah T.

Private tutor in Victoria, Canada

Education

Undergraduate writing student at the University of Victoria.

Experience

I currently tutor elementary French twice a week, and I have experience tutoring ESL students in various humanities subjects. I am a writing student and a freelance editor and copyeditor so I am proficient with grammar and punctuation. I am currently taking writing and editing classes at the University of Victoria. Tutoring gives me an opportunity to help people understand the tricky rules of the English language. So often it is not taught well in elementary and high schools, and so students graduate and enter the workforce or university and run into trouble when they need to write professional documents or papers. My expertise in this area will help students to understand the rules of the English language in one-on-one, specialized sessions.

Hobbies

I enjoy dancing, reading, and cycling during my spare time. I was trained in Highland dance, and I'm planning on taking a contemporary or modern dance class this summer. I cycle as much as I can for enjoyment and exercise. I'll read anything I can see, but I particularly enjoy British authors like James Herriot and PG Wodehouse.
