EducationI am a recent graduate of political science at the University of Victoria. I have studied a variety of subjects in university and have retained a great deal of knowledge outside of my field of interest.
ExperienceI have tutored elementary students, friends, fellow students and family members. I have a lot of experience with giving seminars in classes and study groups. I taught piano, worked with disadvantaged students in high school, and understand that everyone learns differently and at a different pace.
I have attended a variety of workshops and seminars on study skills, and consequently I am very good at condensing information into a digestible form. Throughout my junior high and high school years I maintained an honours average, and received the Rutherford scholarship upon my completion. In university, I have taken courses in biology, psychology, musical theory, human and social development, public speaking, sociology, philosophy, english and political science.
I have a great deal of patience, and understand that everyone learns differently and so when one teaching approach does not work I promptly try another. There is nothing more satisfactory than transforming the feeling of frustration into understanding, and I want to become a tutor so I can help others attain that same feeling.
HobbiesI am interested in reading, politics, debate, writing, fitness, hiking, equestrian riding, volleyball, movies, animals and the environment.
